Norman Bentley
Born in 1968 at Skidegate on Haida Gwaii, he was born into the Haida Nation of the Pacific Northwest Coast Indians. Norman takes the eagle symbol as his family crest, which presents power, prestige, peace and friendship. Norman began carving metal in 1983, largely supported by his family and friends. With the encouragement of Bill Reid, Norman was accepted as an apprentice by world renowned Tony Cavelti. Norman's exquisite pieces reflect an innate carving talent, as well as a care and attention to detail that makes each completed piece a work of art.
